Day One
With smaller sized needles cast on 48 stitches loosely and work in Knit 1, Purl 1 for 7 rows. Change to larger needles.
Row 1: P3, K 5, knit in front and back of next stitch (increase made), place marker on needle. , inc. in next stitch, Knit 4, inc. in next stitch, , Place marker on neelde, increase in next stitch, K 16, inc. in next stitch, place marker,increase in next stitch, K4, inc. in next stitch, place marker, inc. in next stitch, K5, P3 .
Row 2: Purl, slipping markers.
Row 3: P 3, *Knit to within one stitch of marker, increase in next stitch, slip marker, increase in next stitch *, repeat from * three times, knit across to last three stitches, P 3.
Day Two, Three, Four , and Five: Repeat rows 1 and 2 until your stitch count between markers is: 20, 28, 38,28,20. Your last row should be a purl row and remove the markers as you are knitting.
Day 6, 7, 8, and 9:
Row 21: P 3, K17, CO 4 sts, place next 28 on a holder, K 38, CO 4 sts, place 28 on holder, K 17, P3.
Work even in stockinette st. except for the P3 at beginning and end of every knit row.
Repeat knit and purl rows (keeping P 3s) until piece measures 5 ½ .
Change to smaller needles and work in K1, P1 for 1. Bind off all sts. Loosely in rib.
