Here's a quick easy hat pattern in Knit or Crochet that our group did as a Mystery Project.

Crochet Mystery Project

3 ozs worsted weight yarn

Size J hook.

Chain 25:
Row 1: in third chain from hook , half double crochet. Half double crochet
in each chain across. Ch 1
Row 2: in back loop of each stitch HDC across. 23 stitches including the
beginning ch.
Repeat row 2 making ribbing until piece measures 14". Sew or crochet your
sides together and fasten off yarn.
Make a chain 12" long in matching or contrasting yarn. Run this chain
through the top of your project (last row you crocheted) down 2" from the
top. Pull tight and tie in a bow!

 

 

Mystery Knit Project

Materials:
2 oz worsted weight yarn
Size 7 and size 10 needles
or what ever gives you a gauge of 4 sts to 1" on the larger needles

Cast on 56 stitches using smaller needles
Ribbing: K 1, P1 for 2"

Body: with larger needles knit one row,
Purl one row for 4"
Eylet Row: K1 , *YO, K 2 tog*. Repeat between *'s acrossed row
Next Row: Purl
K 1 row, Purl 1 row for 1 "
Bind off as if to purl.

Either crochet a 12" chain or make a 12" I-cord. Lace through your eylet
row, pull tight and tie in a bow!!
