Pattern for hat:

Two strands WW

Size 10.5 circs

Cast on 56 sts (adult) less for kids (50) place marker

And join carefully without twisting.

work 3 inches garter (Knit 1 row, Purl one row)

work 6 (4.5 for child) inches stockinet (Knit every row)

decrease at 8 points (or equal points) every round, by working as follows for an adult:

Row 1: K 6, K2 tog, repeat around

Row 2: K5, K2 tog, repeat around

Row 3: K4, K2 tog ,

Row 4: K3, K2 tog

Row 5: K2, K2 tog around

Row 6: K1, K2 tog around

Row 7: K2 tog around until 6 sts remain, break of yarn leaving a 12” tail.

then close.

For a Child finish decreases as follows:

Row 1: K 8, K2 tog,

Row 2: K7, K 2 tog

Row 3: K 6, K 2 tog

Row 4: K5, K 2 tog

Row 5: K4, K 2 tog

Row 6: K3, K 2 tog

Row 7: K2, K 2 tog

Row 8: K 1, K2 tog

Row 9: K2, tog around until 6 sts remain, break of yarn leaving a 12” tail.
